Philosophical Approaches

The entries on this page focus on philosophical concerns and theories and use them as frameworks to analyze an individual character’s dilemma.  They include but are not limited to Existentialism, Kantian Ethics, and Aristotle’s Virtue Ethics.  The films dsicussed under this apporach are as follows: Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru (1952), Carol Reed’s The Third Man (1949), and Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal (1957)
